Nestling in the deepest countryside, the Animal Park of St.
Michel is situated in the small village of St. Michel in Terrefort, in the
Lower Ariège, near to Pamiers. It extends over more than 16 hectares (40
acres) of green hills, magnificent forests and small streams.
Visitors can easily see the animals while walking on the
two kilometre long footpath. They will learn about each of the animals from
the explanatory notices.
In a part of the forest, a forest path has been created to
discover the different species of trees. A second path crosses the fairies'
wood which has been artistically created.
In an attractive clearing is an Indian village with
teepees, etc.
The walk lasts two to two and a half hours, but, if you
wish, you can easily spend the whole day there.
The Animal Park is not only designed to introduce you to
the animals but also to be a place of rest and relaxation.
In this way, visitors can also establish links with Nature
and the environment.
